Esther Bryan
1909-2003
Esther Raye Patton Bryan, a resident of San Antonio , passed away on Friday, March 7, 2003, at the age of 93 years, 5 months, and 5 days.
She was born to Charles and Rebecca Adeline (Culpepper) Patton on Oct. 2, 1909, in Lockhart.
She attended schools in Stockdale, Houston, and Uvalde.
On Aug. 8, 1936, in Corpus Christi , she married Earl Bryan. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1988.
Mrs. Bryan was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church in Floresville.
She previously lived in McCoy and Floresville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Parnell Russell; a sister, Louise Cordell; and brothers Earl Patton, Virgil Patton, Charlie Patton, Francis Patton, and Hershel Patton.
She is survived by a daughter, Bebe Morris of San Antonio ; grandsons Bryan Russell of Louisville , Ky. , and Brad Russell of San Antonio ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 9, in the Vinyard Funeral Home in Floresville.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Brad Russell of the Springs Baptist Church officiating.
Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carl Ray, Otto Hierholzer, Joe Holcombe, Mac Robinson, Cody Debner, and Bill Nichols.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Floresville.
