Married (2) Mary A. E. Phillips Williford on 3 Dec 1884 in Jefferson County Tennessee, a widow with 9 children. Mary's 1st husband was Jacob Williford. Family Legend suggests that Joseph and Mary had twins, one of whom died in infancy while the other child, Lucy, survived. However there are no documents to substantiate it.
