Pearl O. Taylor, 85, of 624 Myers Ave., Beckley, died Monday, Sept. 27,
1999, at a Beckley hospital following a long illness.

Born Dec. 29, 1913, in Beeson, she was the daughter of the late George R.
Akers and Willie Peyton Akers.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of Sprague Freewill Baptist Church, member of the
Teamsters Union and was retired from Giant Food Corp., Washington. Following
her retirement, she returned to Beckley where she had lived for the past 30
years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Levi Taylor; six brothers, Dale
Akers, Dacel Akers, William Paul Akers, Dillard Akers, George Akers and
Carrie Akers; and two sisters, Beulah Walker and Josephine Runyon.

Survivors include a daughter, Norma Lee Ellenberger and her husband, Lee, of
Borden, Ind.; her stepmother, Virginia Akers Harrah of Alderson; two
brothers, William Riley Akers and his wife, Roberta, of Bedford, Ohio, and
Lonnie Akers and his wife, Betty, of Alderson; a sister, Pamela Akers Smith
of Alderson; eight grandchildren, Buford Bennett Arthur Jr. of Suffolk, Va.,
Jon Mark Arthur of Oklahoma City, Okla., Cheryl Miller of Jeffersonville,
Ind., LeAnn Joehnck of Santa Barbara, Calif., Sonjia Finch of Trumansburg,
N.Y., Jay Ellenberger of Bakersfield, Calif., Stan Ellenberger of Borden,
Ind., and Karen Kossoff of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and 22
great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel,
Beckley, with the Rev. Fred Lovell officiating. Burial will follow in Blue
Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
