Martha Joan Tweedy Rider, 79, of Dongola died Friday, March 6, 2020 at her home.
Joan was born March 25, 1940, in Anna, Illinois, to Beulah Harrell Tweedy and Victor Tweedy.
She married Melvin Rider on March 14, 1959 in Cobden. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2006.
She was a member of the Dongola First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a 4-H leader for thirteen years.
Survivors include her four daughters, Martha (Greg), J. Rider, Cynthia (Raymond), and Regina (Harold); one son, M. (M.) Rider; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one sister, Frances (Wayne); two nephews, Darrell and Randy, and one niece, Kathy.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin, a son, Jonathan, and twin granddaughters, Charlotte and Noelle Rider.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Dongola. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at the American Legion Cemetery.
