Dorothy Bowman, of Sarasota, passed away on March 2, 2020 at the age of 91. She was born in Zurich, Ontario, Canada on Sept 6, 1928 and was one of eleven children. Dorothy has been an active member of Sarasota Community Church (Bahia Vista Mennonite Church) for 55 years. She played piano for the church as well as a touring gospel singing group, New Life Sound, who performed at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. Dottie was multi-talented. She cooked, she sewed, she knit, she baked and she loved games. For 20 years she worked at Maas Brothers Department Store. After retiring, she used those skills in her volunteer work at The World’s Attic (a christian based non profit organization). One of her favorite things to do was to entertain in her home, serving wonderful meals for family and friends. She was a devoted wife to Leonard, who went home to be with the Lord in 2015, and a loving mother to her sons and daughter, Kevin, Marlowe and Deborah. Besides her children, she is survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren. Dorothy will be deeply missed and forever loved. Donations in her memory may be made to Sarasota Community Church.

Visitation and funeral will be held at Sarasota Community Church 4041 Bahia Vista St, Sarasota, FL 34232. On Monday March 9, 2020, visitation from 9am to 11am. Funeral service to follow at 11am. Burial at Palms Memorial Park 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota 34232. Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home is entrusted with final care. Flowers may be delivered to the Funeral Home on Sunday 3/8/2020 before 5pm.
