GERALD RAYMOND KUEHNER
February 3, 1943 - March 1, 2020

Gerald Raymond "Jerry" Kuehner was born on February 3, 1943, to Kenneth Adolph and Francis Marie Kuehner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jerry had an Electrical Engineering degree from University of Miami, which he used for many years working in the space industry. During a brief break from the space program, he held several management positions, including Vice President of an electronics company. He then sought out and obtained a Master's Degree in System Engineering from the University of Houston and returned to his first love, the space program. He believed space was the future and we should look to the stars for the advancement of humanity.

Aside from the Space Industry and Boy Scouts, Jerry enjoyed sailing, Katy football, fishing, gardening and restoring cars. Jerry loved his family and was immensely proud of his two boys. He was the adult scout leader for his son's Boy Scouts troop for over 10 years, where he followed their moto to a T: "Always be prepared." He always had duct tape, rope, WD-40 and Tabasco sauce with him, just in case there was a need to fix an axe, a lever, a water release port on a sail boat or terribly bland eggs.

Gerald Raymond "Jerry" Kuehner died on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Houston Methodist Continuing Care Hospital in Katy, Texas following a brief illness. He was 77 years old.

Jerry's surviving, loving family includes his wife Kay; his sons Larry and Brian and daughter-in-law Jessie Kuehner; grandchildren Lauren and John Kuehner; siblings Bobbie Goodwin, Kathy Hankins and Mary Pat Franz; and many nieces and nephews; as well as extended family and many friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and father, Francis and Kenneth Kuehner.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Houston National Cemetery, with Rev. C. McAllister "MAC" Vaughn officiating. A reception will follow.
