Oliver Afseth, 77, Minot, died Wednesday in a Minot nursing home. His funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, with burial in Rosehill Memorial Park Cemetery, both in Minot.
He was born Aug. 24, 1909, near Lostwood, ND to Theodore and Gina Afseth. He grew up on a farm near there. He served in the Army and after discharge moved to Stanley where he was employed as a mechanic. On April 24, 1935, he married Marie Enns in Stanley. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Minot, ND where he worked at Frosaker, Auran and Ryan automobile dealerships as a mechanic. He retired in 1970. His wife died in 1985.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran church and the Minot Elks.
Survivors, daughter, Carol Jaraczeski, Minot; sons, Gene, Garland Texas, Gary, Ashland, Ore., 10 grandchildren’ four great grandchildren; sisters, Clarice Jensen, Stanley, Alice Schaeffer, Waterloo, Iowa, brothers, Elmer, Naples, Idaho, Albin, Stanley.
