Obituary of Stephen H Bown
Stephen Henry Bown, aged eighty-five, left this earthly existence on February 23, 2020, at his Millcreek home due to natural causes with his loving wife by his side. Born on April 28, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Harold and Reba Esther Nielson Bown. He was the third of five siblings.

When Steve was in high school, he met and married his first wife Rhoda C. Bown, who preceded him in death after fifty years of marriage. He visited her grave with his lunch for seven years in order to feel her presence. Together, they shared four children: Debbie (Bill) Larson, Pam (James, deceased) Kempthorne, Stephen Richard and Randall Harold Bown. He is the grandfather of seven and great grandfather of ten precious souls. He was a caring father and a thoughtful, considerate husband.

In order to support his family, Steve had his own contracting company, focusing on building homes in Salt Lake Valley. He enjoyed an excellent reputation and built many of the homes in his neighbnorhood. Additionally, he proudly served our Country in the Utah National Guard for fifteen years, becoming a Master Sergeant at the Tooele Army Base. At the end of the Korean Conflict, he and his Unit had been called to deploy for active duty at the end of the month, but the Armistice was signed before that that could occur.

Happily, he met and later married Bonnie Taylor on February 16, 2002, in Elko, NV. Together, they shared a love of dancing, and he served at the Sandy Senior's Center as a meal aide and activities volunteer for nineteen years. He was ordained to the Melchezedek Priesthood of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served for nineteen years as clerk, then in the Branch Presidency of the Garden Terrace Alzheimer's Center.

Bonnie and Steve want to thank the Saint Mark's Hospital Heart Center, which includes Dr. Lane Child, surgeon, Dr. Kris Nielson, Dr. Kent Thorne, their nurses Judy and Julie, and Dr. Todd Nelson at Granger Medical Clinic with his Nurse Brooke. We especially thank Nurse Elaine and St. Mark's Coumadin Clinic, for their excellent, compassionate care.

Graveside Services will be held Monday, March 9th, at noon at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah. A viewing will be held that morning inside the funeral home from eleven a.m. until noon. Please come and join in sharing fond memories of Steve.
