Rick Smith, 70, passed away peacefully on January 29th in Springfield, Oregon, with his family by his side after a valiant, three-year battle with cancer.

He was born on June 6, 1947 in Santa Monica, California. Rick attended school in Ralls, Texas, graduating from Ralls High School in June of 1965. He served in the Atlantic fleet of the U.S. Navy from 1966 until 1970. Rick moved to Oregon in the mid-70s, living in the Eugene Faith Center Mens' Houses, making lifelong friends and memories.

In 1977, Rick married Cindy Brown. They lived in Springfield and two beautiful daughters, Melody and Amanda, before divorcing in 1990. Rick and Cindy remained friends throughout his life.

Rick moved to San Saba, Texas in 2001 and built a gallery to display his unique photography. He was a gifted artists, designing and fabricating is own exotic hardwood frames. During this time, he traveled the world and checked many items off of his "bucket list."

Rick returned to Oregon in 2015 after being diagnosed with cancer. He sold his gallery and home and relocated to Sweet Home, Oregon to be closer to his daughters. He was creative and always working on projects, including his extensive backyard garden and composing original music. He was sustained in sickness and in health by his strong faith.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Robert L. Smith and Betty Katherine (Green) Polvadore. He is survived by his daughters, Melody and Amanda Smith.
