A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Early Hampton and the late Ola Horne Hampton. He was a retired attorney and a member of the State Bar of Georgia for 50 years.
Mr. Hampton attended Appalachian State and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and was a member of the Disabled Veterans.
Surviving are a sister, Maude Smith of Gastonia.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hampton was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence Hampton, Charlie Hampton and Paul Hampton, and a sister, Florence White.
Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
