HURRICANE - Dianne Conner, age 62, passed away July 21, 2005, at her home in Hurricane. She was born May 12, 1943, in St. George, Utah, a daughter of Ted and Agnes Cottam Beacham. She married Robert McGarvie, and to this union were born five children. They later divorced and she married Pete Conner. To this union was born one child, and she and Pete later divorced.
Born, raised, and educated in St. George, Dianne graduated from Dixie High School. She had an artistic flair and was always decorating or redecorating something. Dianne was known for her "green thumb," and she spent many hours working in her yard. She loved the Southern Utah area with its majestic red mountains and beautiful State and National Parks. Dianne followed politics and appreciated a lively discussion.
A sincere, genuine, unique, spiritual woman with a great sense of humor was how Dianne was known to her friends and family. Her sister, Betty, remembers Dianne as being so understanding of others, always interested in what they had to say, and that she was truly her best friend. She was a wonderful mother and very supportive of her children.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Heather) McGarvie, of St. George, UT; Brenda Christensen, of Farmington, NM; the twins, Donald (Alicia) McGarvie, of Hurricane, UT, and Patrick (Kimberly) McGarvie, of LaVerkin, UT; and Jimmy Conner, of St. George, UT; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Eleanor (Wayne) Lee and Betty (Gary) Carter, both of St. George, UT. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Agnes, daughter, Betty McGarvie, and grandson, Daniel McGarvie.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at 12:00 noon at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2260 E. Red Cliffs Dr., St. George, with viewings Monday, July 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, prior to services, at the Church. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery.
