Steven Michael Vaughn, son of Ronald Vaughn and Dorothy Collins Vaughn Ashbrook, was born Jan. 5, 1986, in West Plains, MO. He died Sept. 14, 2006, in Mammoth Spring.
He was a graduate of Mammoth Spring High School with the class of 2004 and Oklahoma City College of Construction in 2006.
He was a member of the Thayer Swim Team and also the Mammoth Spring Boy Scouts. He played basketball and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding his four-wheeler.
At the time of his death, he was doing his favorite things, fishing and camping with his grandpa, Virgil and his dog Bandit by his side.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Dorothy and Doug Ashbrook of Pomona, MO; his father and step-mother, Ronald and Debbie Vaughn of Mountain View, MO; his maternal grandparents, Virgil and Johanna Collins of Mammoth Spring; his paternal grandfather, Roscoe Vaughn of Mammoth Spring; three aunts, Karen Collins, Treda Traw and husband Nicky; and Joyce Barymon and husband Kluck all of Mammoth Spring; two uncles, Leon Vaughn and wife Bonita of Mammoth Spring; and Calvin Phipps of Koshkonong, MO; his extended family in Ireland and England, Rose McGee and husband Gerald and Phyllis Feeney all of Sligo, Ireland and many cousins in Ireland and England; special friends, Steffany Burgan and Kim Hurley; and a host of other cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Virginia Vaughn; great-grandparents, Michael and Mary Loughlin; his great-grandmother, Lucille Pendergrass; three aunts, Sue Phipps, Goldie McCradic and Maura Byrne; three uncles, Jewell McCradic, William and Christy Loughlin; and his cousin, Jesse McCradic.
The funeral services were Sept. 17 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with the Rev. Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial followed in the Flint Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
