John Tietjens Dies
Native of Iowa had lived in Chariton County for 80 years.
John Tietjens, 84 died at the home of his sister Mrs. Carl A. Wolf and Mr. Wolf in the West part of Brunswick, Sunday, September 30th. He had been ill for the past several Weeks.
At the Heisel Funeral Home in Brunswick at two O'Clock Tuesday afternoon, Robert Reeves conducted funeral services and the body was buried in the German Cemetery in the vicinity of Indian Grove. Mr. Tietjens was a farmer during all of the years of his active life. Within the past few months he had made his home in Brunswick.
Mr. Tietjens was the oldest son of Jurgen and Catherine Tietjens. He was born in Clinton Iowa, October 14, 1866. He came to Missouri when he was 4 years old. The family located in Indian Grove & this part of the county, had been his home ever since that time.
His wife, who died in 1948 was formerly Mrs. Jenny Stillwell. He is survived by one stepson, John Stillwell, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by 3 sisters and two brothers. They are Mrs. Bertha Arp, Mrs. Carl A. Wolf, and Mrs. Bernie Joseph, Gus Tietjens and George Tietjens all of this vicinity.
