Asbury's final resting place is per his Texas death certificate. He and Sylva were living in Cartwright, Bryan Co., OK when he was taken to Madonna Hospital in Denison because of symptoms of a stroke due to obesity and hypertension.

He was the son of John Wesley Manes, Sr. and his 2nd wife, Virginia Violet "Jennie" Morris, who died before 1910 in Cedar Creek, Taney Co., MO. Asbury was named for his paternal uncle, Asbury Burr Manes.
