She was born March 15, 1920, in Madison County to the late Landon Lafayette and Hattie Baldwin Gregory. Mrs. Burgin was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Boyd Burgin and two daughters, Jewel McWilliams and Mavis Reese.
Survivors include her son, Gerald R. Burgin and his wife, Mae, of Conover; seven grandchildren, Marletia and Joel Kaufman of Hickory, Timothy and Jo Ann Killian of Claremont, Kimberly Lovell of Bostic, Mark and Linda Burgin of Miami, Fla., Michael and Renee Burgin of Hickory, Jeff Little of Hickory and Glenda Pressley of Hiddenite; 13 great-grandchildren who she loved and adored; and a sister, Ruth Davis, of Candler.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, in the chapel at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brian Correll officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
