LOCHRIE - Robert B., 87, passed away at his home in Atlantis, FL on November 9, 1999. A pioneer Fort Lauderdale resident and citrus grower, Robert first came here as a young boy when his parents, John and Kathleen Lochrie of Windber, PA built a winter home near the beach in 1923. It was here that Robert brought his high school sweetheart and bride, Margaret Sherlock after their marriage in 1932. They lived in an old style wood home on Birch Road for seventeen years, then moved to their farm and citrus grove where they lived until Margaret's death in 1978. He later moved to Atlantis, FL.

The Lochries were members of St. Anthony Catholic Church while living in Fort Lauderdale and later helped establish St. Clement Catholic Church as the community grew westward. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Moose and life member of Florida Sheriff's Ranch. Robert and Margaret owned Lauderdale Citrus Groves on West Oakland Park Boulevard which they operated from the 1930s through the 1950s as well as groves in St. Lucie County. They divided business responsibilities with Robert managing production and sales while Margaret managed the paperwork and bookkeeping side. He was a founding member of the Florida Citrus Mutual the first statewide growers association and the Florida Farm Bureau Federation. Robert served 42 years as a director of the Broward National Bank, at that time, Fort Lauderdale's oldest financial institution. He was one of the founders and directors of several affiliated banks eventually serving as chairman of Broward Bancshares Inc., a local bank holding company.

Robert (Bud) and Margaret (Peg) Lochrie had three children, Robert B. Lochrie, Jr. married to Susan Fry and Sally Ann Creswell married to John Creswell all of Ft. Lauderdale and Mary Elizabeth Lehn of Elkhorn, NE who passed away in 1988. There are ten grandchildren: Elizabeth A. Bryan, Reed A. Bryan IV, Glenn A. Lochrie and Katherine E. Lochrie all of Ft. Lauderdale; Michael Lehn of Naples, FL; Jesse Lehn of Atlanta, GA; Bruce Lehn of Elkhorn, NE; Erin Lehn of James Island, SC; Adrian Sauer of Crossett, AR and nine great grandchildren. Robert Lochrie was born in Windber, PA on October 24, 1912 and was one of sixteen children, all but two of whom are deceased. He is survived by his sisters Mary Jane Fee of Ft. Pierce, FL and Kathleen McIlvaine of Topton, PA and many cousins, nieces and nephews in addition to the immediate family.

Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Fort Lauderdale after a private family service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Leukemia Society of Palm Beach, 5840 Corporate Way, Suite 102, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
