Floyd Royal Davis, 93, Balsam Township, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 in his home. He was born Sept. 26, 1913 in Bruce Township, Rusk County, Wis., the son of Royal Elton and Amy Luella (Guthridge) Davis. Floyd married Dorothy Ruth Van Houten on July 5, 1939 and lived in St. Paul. He owned and operated a freight hauler business for 14 years for Motor Cargo Freight Company. In 1951, they bought Big Balsam Camp, a resort north of Bovey, which they operated for 41 years. He also worked for Itasca County for 23 years at the Balsam garage. Floyd was an avid deer hunter and lifetime member of the NRA. His two greatest passions were deer hunting and watching the Minnesota Twins baseball games. His parents, Royal Elton and Amy Luella Davis; brother, Vernon Davis; son, Robert Alva Davis; grandson, Chad William Davis; and great grandson, Brandon Robert Davis preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Ruth Davis; children, Gordon (Jackie) Davis of Balsam, Lorraine (Erling) Madsen of Bovey, Peg (Bill) Trombley of Maple Grove, Minn., and Bill (Peg) Davis of Balsam; grandchildren, Richard (Terry) Madsen, Leslie (Steve) Carter, Patty (Changiz) Fardipour, Scott (Carla) Davis, Andrea (Dave) Neville, Holly Davis, Steven (Holli) Trombley, Hannah Davis, and Chris Trombley; great grandchildren, Alexandria Neville, Naseem Fardipour, Tyler Vaillancourt, David Neville, Lauren Carter, Treyton Villancourt, Nadia Fardipour, Camille Madsen, Kendra Madsen, Caleb Trombley, Kavyon Fardipour, and Komran Fardipour, and sisters, Della Voigt of Fairbanks, Alaska, Stella LaPorte of Ladysmith, Wis., and Marvel Kush of Marcell, Minn. VISITATION:1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, Aug. 1, in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine. Interment will be at the Balsam Cemetery.
