Bessie McDowell Clark
NACHES - Bessie McDowell Clark passed away on Sunday, December 14. She was 93.
Bessie was born in Somerset, Kentucky on January 17, 1910 to Dora and Bogie McDowell. The family lived in Indiana and Oregon before settling in Naches in 1926. There she met and married Sam Clark. Together they raised 4 children and celebrated 63 years of marriage until Sam's death in 1993. Bess enjoyed crocheting, gardening, horseback riding, camping, bowling and square dancing.
Bess enjoyed all of her children and grandchildren and they adored her. Grandma always said she had to keep a fresh pie or cobbler for Grandpa, but all her kids knew that what was hiding under the tea towel on the kitchen counter was for them too.
Bess is survived by her 4 children, Ken and Von Clark of Rochester, WA, Jerry and Kay Clark of Peshastin, WA, Janet Clark Lyons of Cowiche, WA, Don and Carolyn Clark of Moxee, WA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, Wanda Schoonover of Naches; and 1 brother Bill McDowell of Gleed; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Sam Clark, parents Dora and Bogie McDowell, 3 brothers and 3 grandchildren.
A service will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Naches Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. Please join the family for a luncheon in the church following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
