Ronald "Ronnie" Meeks, 62, of Topeka, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at his home.
Mr. Meeks was a sales representative for Engroff Catering. He was a 1960 graduate of Morehead High School in Eden, N.C., and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a sportsman and was a member of the Capital City Gun Club, the National Rifle Association and the Kansas Prairie Pickers.
Mr. Meeks was born in Eden, N.C. on March 27, 1942, the son of Thomas Meeks and Kathleen Ray Meeks.
He was married to Glenda Shuford in Topeka on July 4, 1964. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include his mother, Kathleen Meeks, Eden, N.C.; two sons, Kenny and Donnie Meeks, both of Topeka; one daughter, Kim Douglas, Topeka; a sister, Donna Smith, Salsbury, N.C. ; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexis Meeks, on Feb. 26, 1997.
Funeral Mass for Ronald Meeks will be celebrated by the Reverend George Bertels, at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Meeks will lie in state after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church where a parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart Church 333 N.E. Freeman, Topeka, 66616. Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home is in charge of services.
