Nellie Blanche "Blanch" Erwin was the daughter William A. Erwin and Julia Ann Brown. Nellie was the second wife of James Madison "Matt" McMahan. They were married on Sept. 2, 1914, in Hamilton Co., IL. They had five children: Mary Virginia "Gin", William David "Jigg", Coye Lee "Tommy", James Erwin "Boise", and Nellie Mae "Pat". It is said that she possibly died of a heart attack while picking berries. She was found sitting peacefully under a tree.
