Anthony “Tony” Nicholas Tessitore passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2020 at the age of 79.

He was born in New Orleans to the late Anthony “Tom” and Frances Tessitore and lived his life in New Orleans and Metairie.

Tony is survived by his wife Linda Tessitore, three children Michael Tessitore (Kimmy), Brian Tessitore, Kevin Tessitore (Kim), and two grandchildren Zachary Tessitore and Jacob Tessitore.

He spent 33 years working as a teacher, and later as an assistant principal, in the Jefferson Parish School system. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s degree from Nicholls State University.

Tony’s adult life began when he met Linda, his wife of 55 years. They met is school, fell in love, got married, and raised 3 children. While early life was sometimes a struggle on a teacher’s salary, the house was always full of love.

When not at work, Tony’s favorite pastime was travel. When his children were young, the family would go on cross-country road trips and see most of the U.S and parts of Canada. After he retired, Tony and Linda began travelling internationally and visited over 30 countries.

Most of all, Tony was a man of simple tastes. His greatest pleasures came from spending time with family, travelling, and doting on his two grandchildren. Those who knew him quickly realized that he was loving, kind, gentle, and caring. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Wednesday February 12, 2020, with mass beginning at 1:00 pm at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA.
