Funeral services for Melvine Herring, 77, of Garland, formerly of Point, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in the Point Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Hooker Ridge Cemetery with Clayton Dane, Bill York, Billy Joe York, William Hass, and Jackie Rhodes serving as pallbearers.
She was born October 16, 1924 in Point to Lloyd and Sarah Florence Steen. She married Samuel Ed Herring, Jr. on May 25, 1940, in Point. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister.
She died at 11:47 a.m. Sunday, March 3, in the Baylor Medical Center of Garland
Survivors include a son, Edmond Junior Herring, Terrell; a daughter, Anna Florence Sutton, Garland: a brother, Ed Steen, San Antonio; three sisters, Louise York and Mittie Bell Steen, both of Point, and Mac Steen of Sulphur Springs; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Point Funeral Home.
