ohn Jasper Banks “Johnny” 56, of 18513 Depot Rd McKenney entered into eternal rest on Monday April 17, 2017 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born on April 23, 1960 to Jasper Lee Banks and the late Mary Johnson Banks. He graduated from Dinwiddie County High School in the “Class of 1978”. At an early age he confessed Christ and joined Mount Level Baptist Church, Amelia VA where served as the church drummer. He was a former custodian at Dinwiddie High School and also at Sunnyside Elementary School in McKenney. Johnny enjoyed fishing and singing and was loved by all that knew him.
He leaves to cherish memories of him, a devoted wife, KaroLynn Harris Banks, a daughter; Lakesha Rhodes and step daughter, Ariel R. Harris of Dinwiddie, his father; Jasper Lee Banks of Mckenney, two brothers; Franklin Johnson (Laretha) of Columbus, GA, and David Johnson (Nerrilenne) of Chesterfield, four sisters; Joyce Woodson (Andre’) of Petersburg, Louise Winfield (Isham), of N. Dinwiddie, Gloria Woolridge of Chesterfield, and Mary Bell (Kevin, Sr.) of Petersburg, his mother-in-law, Geneva L. Harris of Dinwiddie, a brother-in-law, Karl Harris of Colonial Heights, and a sister-in-law, Kimberlyn Harris of Dinwiddie, eight aunts Alice Johnson, Cora Johnson, Elnora Ledbetter (Peter), Bertha Reese of Petersburg Shirley Coleman of Church Road, Helen Cameron and Mary Johnson of Ford, and Corrine Taylor of Amelia, three uncles; Grover Johnson (Anna Mae)of Ford, VA, Julius Banks (Elaine) of Petersburg, and Willie Banks of Maryland, a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday April 22, 2017 at Mount Level Baptist Church, 901 Wills Rd, Amelia VA with the pastor Dr. Charles L. Shannon III officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body may be viewed at the funeral home on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 10 am to 8pm at Johnson Funeral Home in McKenney and at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
