COLUMBIA, S.C. / FAIRFAX, VT. - Bernard "Bernie Morris Boutin, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, January 21st 2020 at his home in Columbia, South Carolina.

He was born on November 25th 1940 in Burlington Vt., he was the son of Ludger and Edith (Cameron) Boutin, one of eight children.

Bernie graduated from Cathedral High school in Burlington, Vt. in 1958 and immediately joined the Navy after graduation.

He was stationed on the Anti-submarine Aircraft Carrier the U.S.S. Bennington and served for six years.

Bernie founded his own company, Bernie's Plumbing and Heating. He worked closely with his brother Jimmy to provide reputable and reliable service in Burlington, Vt. and the surrounding area.

Boating and playing racquetball were his passions in his earlier days. In his later years, his passion shifted to biking where he enjoyed riding his Harley on trips throughout the United States with family and friends.

South Carolina was home to Bernie for the past several years and he lived with good friends and their son.

Bernie was predeceased by his parents, two brothers; Paul Boutin and Richard Boutin, one stepdaughter; Paula Eddy, and wonderful friends; Roger and Monique Sabourin.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 23rd 2020 at the Resurrection Park Catholic Cemetery on 200 Hinesburg Road in South Burlington, Vt.
