The body will be brought to the Scoville funeral home Saturday evening.

Col. Philip R. Ward
Colonel Philip R. Ward, US Army (retired), of Fruit Valley died early this morning in the Veterans hospital at Buffalo where he had been a patient for the last two months. He was 78 years old.
Colonel Ward was born July 13, 1874, the son of the late Brigadier General Thomas Ward and Katherine Mott Ward, who resided for some years in Rochester. The mother of Colonel Ward was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas S. Mott of this city and a sister of Elliott B. Mott, West Fifth St., and the late Col. John T. Mott.
The colonel was a member of the class of 1896 at the United
States Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned by the late President Theodore Roosevelt. He was a veteran of 38 years service in the Army, during which time he served in many parts of the world. He was with the Coast Artillery, the Field Artilery and the General Staff Corps at various
times. He was also a veteran of the Spanish-American War and World War I. He retired from active service in 1932.
After his retirement, Col. and Mrs. Ward came to Oswego and
purchased the old Perry homestead at Fruit Valley, where they had since resided.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kate Lyon Ward; one son, Thomas Ward of Rochester; one daughter, Mrs. Laura Ward Sweany, wife of General Kenneth Sweany, who returned to the States in December from Korea and is now commanding general of the U. S. Armed Forces in Puerto Rico and the Antilles; one brother, John M. Ward of Cape Cod; five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. The body is being brought back from Buffalo by the Scoville funeral home.
The family requests no flowers.
