Mrs. Porter was born in Georgia and came to the Texas Panhandle about 25 years ago from Kerr Co., TX. She had lived in Higgins for four years. She was the mother of thirteen children, of which five sons and three daughters survive her.
Mrs. Porter professed religion at an early age and was a consistent member of the Baptist Church at the time of her death. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Cemetery, Rev. Butler of Shattuck, OK. and Rev. Harden of Durham, OK. conducted the services.
