It appears he possibly remarried before then. Lida remarried a few months later on 27 May 1916 to James Columbus Dry.

Robert is showing marrying again on 18 Jun 1914 in Cabarrus County, NC to Ellen "Ella" Millwood. Robert's parents are listed on the marriage record as A. P. and N.A. Starnes. Ella was the daughter of John Millwood and Lula Franklin. Ella and Robert had three children: James Howard Starnes (who only lived a few months), Ellis Pink Starnes, and Nannie Partuna Starnes. Ella died shortly after in 1918.

Robert remarried on 7 Dec 1918 in Charlotte, NC to Sallie Kenlie Griffith. His parents are listed as A.P. and Nannie Starnes. Kenlie's parents are listed as Thomas and Sallie Griffith.

By the 1940 census, he is listed with his wife Ola Mae Mullis Honeycutt Starnes. I believe they married around 1920 and they had the following children: Joe M. Mullis, Joyce Starnes, Parks Lindsey Starnes Sr., Bobby Van Starnes. Ola was previously married on 3 Sep 1910 in Union County to Julius Kee Honeycutt who died in 1916. Ola and Julius had the following children: William Boyd Honeycutt and Ester Lois Honeycutt. Ola was the daughter of William Mullis and Jane A. Little.
