Page 10 of the Boston Daily Globe of 19 Dec. 1899 carried a lengthy obituary for him. He was the major donor of the J. V. Fletcher Library in Westford, Mass. "For more than 62 years he conducted a meat business at a stall in Faneuil hall market...For many years he was associated with several of Boston's leading banking institutions...he was head of the Belmont Savings Bank, etc."
