Vernon Aker passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in San Antonio , Texas at Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit after a battle with cancer.
Vernon was born in Norman, Oklahoma, on March 26, 1947, to Pauline B. Aker and Graham Aker who preceded him in death.
A Huntsville native and graduate of Huntsville High School, Mr. Aker earned his BBS degree from Sam Houston State University. He served in recent years in the Presidents Circle and supported the Athletic Department at Sam Houston. He was a director at First National Bank, Huntsville, Texas, for several years and served as a manager on the board of Gibbs Brothers & Company, L.P.
He is survived by his son Michael of Bangkok, Thailand: dear friend Tracey Bruno and many beloved pets.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 10:00 – 11:00am at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Huntsville,Texas. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 1:30 pm at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA or the charity of your choice.
