Carol B. Graney, age 96, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020, at Lancaster Health Services, Lancaster. She was born on August 11, 1923, in Lancaster, the daughter of Herbert and Fern (Miles) Schwantes. Carol graduated from Lancaster High School in 1942. On June 2, 1942, she was united in marriage to Rex Graney at the Bethlehem E&R Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, the couple farmed, retiring in 1976. In 1990, Rex and Carol moved to Lancaster. Together they enjoyed dancing, playing cards and traveling. Rex preceded her in death on January 26, 2002. Carol was a member of the Bethlehem E&R Church and enjoyed sewing, gardening, golfing, playing Bingo, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children: Steve (Colleen) Graney; Vernon (Ellen) Graney; Beverly "Ann" (Duane) Schleicher, all of Lancaster; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dolores Schwantes, Lancaster; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Rex, Carol was preceded in death by her siblings: Norman (Irma); Miles; and Alan Schwantes; Mary (Jim) Brandemuehl; a brother-in-law, Burdette (Helen) Graney.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethlehem E&R Church in Lancaster with Reverend Mark Dieter officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
