Services slated for fire victims
BALLSTON SPA -- Memorial services for Mr and Mrs John Mark Erkkila and their children will be conducted at 8 tonight at the Burke Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs.
Mr Erkkila, 26; his wife, Nancy, 28; their son, Thomas James, 2, and their daughter, Ann-Claire Erkkila, 8 months, died in a fire at their home at 31 Margaret Drive early Monday.
The Rev Wesley A Smith, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Saratoga Springs, will officiate.
Mr Erkkila was born on May 7, 1956, in L'Anse, Mich. He had been an electrician's mate first class with the Navy at the Knowles Atomic Power Laboratory in West Milton since 1980.
Survivors include; his parents, John and Cora Erkkila of Copper Harbor, Mich, and nine brothers and sisters.
Nancy Erkkila was born on April 19, 1954, in Rockford, Ill. While her husband was stationed here, she had been involved with and played the bassoon for the Ballston Spa Orchestra. Mr Erkkila had served as librarian for the orchestra.
She is survived by her parents, Ellis E and Madeline M Mackey Fuqua, and a brother, William Terry Fuqua, all of Waukegan, Ill.
The children are survived by maternal and paternal grandparents.
Following cremation, interment will be in the First Presbyterian Crypt in Waukegan, Ill.
