Norma Jean Benton Murray died peacefully in her sleep on January 25, 2020 at the age of 92. She was born May 31, 1927 in Elm Creek, Menard County, TX to William Floyd and Nettie Myrtle McKenna Benton. She was married to Daniel John Murray on May 7, 1948. She attended Menard County Schools and graduated from Menard High School. She begin her working career at age 16 and retired at age 80. She held various jobs in Menard and retired at least three times.
She was a faithful member the First United Methodist Church since 1944. She was a board member of many clubs and organizations in Menard. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League achieving the rank of Ruby Life Master in February 2018. She taught bridge in Menard as well as on several cruise ships. She literally traveled the world to play in ACBL bridge tournaments.
She will be remembered for her positive attitude, gentle and giving spirit and her love of adventure.
Above all, she loved and cherished her family, putting their needs above hers at all times.
She is predeceased by her husband, Daniel J. Murray, her parents, five brothers, one sister and three nephews.
