Truman Chester Rowley was born on November 21, 1894, in Jasper, New York to Harriett 'Hattie' (nee Marvin) and Chester D Rowley. He married Beatrix Williams on August 18, 1919, in Los Angeles, California. They had two children during their marriage; Chester Donald who was killed in action during World War II, and Vernon James II, named after Chester's eldest brother and why the "II" was applied to his name.

He died on February 28, 1975, in Fallbrook, California, at the age of 80. It is not known why he is not interred with his wife and son Donald at Inglewood Park Cemetery. Perhaps this posting of this memorial will help find that answer.
