She was born July 15, 1916 in Pittsburg to Emiel A. and Mable E. Miller Fanska. She was a Pittsburg resident all of her life, with the exception of living in Cherokee for five years.
She married Charles Ryan on June 26, 1939. They later divorced. She married Fred L. Fish on Nov. 24, 1955 in Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1971.
She worked for E.I. Mallory Agency of State Farm Insurance for 13 years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Pittsburg. She was a 50-year member of the church choir; the First Christian Church 20th Century Club; the Christian Women's Fellowship; Augusta L.E.A. No. 23; Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant No. 33 in Parsons; Past State Secretary and long time member of the Rebekah Lodge Assembly of Kansas; Past State President of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant; State Secretary of Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant; Past presiding officer of L.E.A.; Ladies Auxiliary; Patriarchs Militant and Rebekah Lodge; AARP Chapter No. 646; National Association of Retired Federal Employees No. 550 chapter; National Association of Letter Carriers; and she did tax counseling for elderly.
Survivors include a son, Nelson Ryan of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Donna Andrew of Pittsburg; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Emiel, Kenneth, and Willard Fanska; and two sisters, Lois Willis and Maxine Sarley.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, at the First Christian Church in Pittsburg with Rev. Jim Ward officiating. The Crystal Rebekah Lodge No. 581 will conduct rites at the church following the services. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Sunday. The family will be at the home of Luella's daughter and son-in-law, Fred and Donna Andrew at 1709 W. 20th St., Pittsburg. Friends may call at their home after 10 a.m. Saturday.
