HARRIS

Thelma Lee Harris, 78, died Dec. 12, 1998, in the Hensley Nursing Home in Sayre. Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 15 at the First Baptist Church with Tom Cooksey officiating and Kevin Ballard assisting. Burial was in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre.

Mrs. Harris, the daughter of Verna and Jim L. Gardner, was born on March 12, 1920 in Malakoff, Texas. She moved to the Delhi community with her parents and married Fred Carl Harris on July 18, 1942, in Delhi. She lived in Riverside, Calif., with her brother while Mr. Harris served his country during World War II. After the war, they moved to Weatherford and later to Sayre in December 1945 to make their home. She worked at Hart's Variety Store for 30 years until her retirement. she was a member of the Sayre First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and John Hill of Sayre; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Deena Harris of Arvada, Colo., and Johnny and Mary Harris of Blue Springs, Mo.; two brothers, Joel Gardner of Atoka, Okla., and Jerry Gardner of riverside, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
