New Douglas—Funeral services were held today for Mrs. Gertrude Louise Tabor, 96, who died Saturday at 11:15 a.m. at Miles Nursing Home in Highland. The Rev. Arby Hosto of Caseyville officiated at the final rites at the Lesicko Funeral Home. Interment was in the New Douglas Cemetery.
Mrs. Tabor was born June 17, 1869 at Alhambra and was married south of that village on Oct . 4, 1893 to James H. Tabor. She moved from New Douglas in 1953 to Collinsville where she resided with a daughter, Bettie Tabor, until last April when she entered the nursing home.
Surviving in addition to the daughter, Bettie, are two other daughters and a son, Mrs. Mae Binn of Champaign, Mrs. W.J. Bensinger of New Rochelle, N.Y. , and Hampton Tabor of Jerseyville; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles F. and Betsy Cook Tibbits; a son in infancy; five brothers and five sisters. Mr. Tabor died March 31, 1947.
Mrs. Tabor was a member of the Christian Church and a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. During World War I she was active in Red Cross work.
