Died on Oct 24th from gangrene following laceration of scalp caused by fall from moving train. Injury occurred Oct 14th. She had been visiting her daughter Lena Born in Norwood and was returning to Daughter Ida’s home in Watkins when she was injured. She was taken to St John’s hospital in St Paul on Oct 21, where she later died on the 24th. Her grandson, Edward Born, was killed in action in France, on Oct 21st.

Gravesite Details

Mary’s foot-stone was never engraved. It is still resting on it’s side, leaning against the back of Joseph Hartelt’s headstone. Discovered by Danny Gagnon winter 2019-2020. See photo.
