Vera Marie Baldwin, 88, left for her heavenly home on November 26, 2019 at 6:37 am at her daughter’s home in Noblesville, IN. Vera was born on November 13, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Dillard and Mattie “Ruth” Williams and grew up in Burlington, IN.

Vera was part of the last graduating class from Burlington High School prior to consolidation in 1949. She shared many interesting stories and memories with family and friends, many of whom remained lifelong friends from her childhood.

On October 14, 1949 she married her soulmate, Walter C Baldwin. They eventually gave birth to a son and a daughter, prior to Walter’s death in 1973. In order to help support her family, Vera spent most of her working career at the CVS on Apperson Way in Kokomo, IN, where she retired after 32 years of employment.

Vera was a long-time and devoted member of Northview Christian Church. Over the years, she helped with the Sunday School program, served as the head of Deaconesses, faithfully sang in the church choir, and provided support to the other women of Northview as the Woman’s Coordinator. Besides her family and church, Vera’s next love was sports of any kind. This love even earned her the nickname “Coach” by her son’s friends. As one of the founding members of the Haworth High School Booster Club, Vera was a proud supporter of local athletics. But as much as she loved cheering on the local teams, her passion for athletics was most apparent by her devotion to the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. Without fail, if either team were playing, she could be found sitting in her favorite recliner, watching them live on TV.

Vera is survived by her daughter, Nanette (Tom) Knuckles of Noblesville, IN; Grandchildren, Timothy (Chris) Knuckles and Sharon (Kent) Ellis, both of San Diego, CA; Tommy (Cara) Knuckles, of Waltham, MA; Michael (Meghan) Baldwin, Kokomo; Andrew (Jill) Baldwin of Houston, TX; Joey Baldwin, Lafayette, plus eight great-grandchildren; Brothers-in-law, Duke Baldwin and Weldy “Jip” Baldwin and sisters-in-law, Sharon Catron and Pam Baldwin, all of Kokomo and Joan Baldwin of Clovis, NM; Several nieces and nephews; and dear friends from her neighborhood and Northview Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Weldy and Esther Baldwin, her son and his wife, Steve and Susan Baldwin, brother, Howard Williams and brothers-in-law Stanley, Baldwin, Willard (Butch) Baldwin and Archie Bowman. Sister-in-laws, Helen Bowman, Phyllis Baldwin, Mildred Baldwin and Jerri Phipps.

Visitation and services will be at Northview Christian Church, 2059 N 100 E Kokomo, IN., 46901. Visitation will be Tuesday December 3, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral will immediately follow visitation. Graveside services will take place at Crown Point Cemetery. Officiating the services will be Reverend Charles Armstrong and Dan Adams.
