A.J. Beaver, a highly respected and honored citizen of the Sugden community, passed away at his home there Sunday afternoon, January 29 at 6 o'clock. Deceased was born in Georgia November 7, 1846, and was 76 years of age at the time of his death.
He moved to what is now Jefferson County about 30 years ago and had been engaged in the farming business almost until the time of his death, though he had resided in the town of Sugden for 15 years preceding his death.
The widow of two sons, Jewel of Waurika and Tom of Sugden are the only immediate relatives surviving.
Services were conducted from the Sugden Union Church Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. J.M. Childers of the Church of Christ, of which faith the deceased had been a member for a number of years. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F fraternity. Interment was made in the Sugden Cemetery.
