The son of James A. Buchanan & Martha Elizabeth Wooten, he married Katie C. Peek and they had seven children together: Julius (1897), Maggie M. (b-1900), Edna (b-1901), Evelyn (b-1906), Martha Elizabeth (b-1908 m-Anderson), Dorothy Teresa (b-1910) and Thomas F. (b-1914). He was an Atlanta Policeman and served in the U.S. Navy in Jacksonville, Florida during WWI.
