Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020 at The First United Methodist Church for Richard Lynn Belvin of Ruidoso, NM.

Mr. Belvin, 74, died January 6, 2020 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas.

Monty Leavell will officiate at the services with a family burial to follow at the Acme Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Biehl, Jimmy Don Smith, Johnny Smith, Ricky Belvin, Worth Shephard, and Adam Wortley

Richard was born November 11, 1945 in Artesia, N.M., the son of Doyle Belvin and Ruby (Griffin) Belvin.

On 6/26/1964 he was married to Mary Jean Sadler in Carlsbad, N.M.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jimmy Lynn Belvin, brothers Stanley and Jimmy Belvin, sisters Wanda Johnson and Sharon Smith.

He is survived by his wife Jeannie Belvin, daughter Laurie Winchell, son-in-law Darin Winchell, granddaughters Shaylee Roberson (Blake), Taylor Cronje (Stefan), Ashlyn Winchell, great grandson Carter Cronje with his second great grandchild due in May.

Richard worked at Evans Hardware while in Artesia. He worked at Lambstar and JB Livestock while in Muleshoe, TX. He retired from his family owned business, SW Badger Daylighting in Odessa, TX. in 2015.

Richard was a 4-H Club leader, member of the Eddy County Fair Board, West Texas Stock Dog Association, and Texas Sheep Dog Association. He served as president in all three organizations.

Richard enjoyed trap shooting, raising show sheep while his kids were in 4-H and FFA, raising and training stock dogs for work and competition, and long range rifle competitions.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Artesia or The Assurance Homes in Midland, Texas.
