My heart is once more breaking as I put up a memorial for Saber, our beloved cat who had been with us since 2004 when he joined our family as a little refugee from some unknown area of our neighborhood. He died of a stroke this morning in the arms of my husband at the Andrews Veterinary Hospital. I found him beside his favorite chair in the living room early this morning, barely breathing. I was heartbroken and very sad as I called the vets at the AVH, They said to bring him in immediately but it did no good. It was also the 14th anniversary of the death of my beloved mother.

Saber was solid black and a very tolerant cat who didn't mind sharing his bed, his food. or even his toys with the other cats within our household. He loved music and would often be seen near the radio or whatever source of music was being played. He seemed to prefer easy listening music. He loved to play outside during the summer and was often on the back deck watching he world go by from his perch on the rattan sofa. He was very sociable and enjoyed having people show up for dinner or longer stays. He never disappeared as the other cats did when an unfamiliar person came to visit. Instead, he would often get as close to the person as he could and watch them with his unique amber and green eyes. Saber was in good health for most of his life, but the vet said he was losing weight and slowing down at his last checkup.

Saber is survived by his feline brother Boots, and his feline sisters Ming, Lily, and Sophie. He is also survived by several cousins who belong to his Aunt Wanda as well as her Winston the dog with whom Saber often shared salmon and water. His body was cremated and his ashes reside in a beautiful urn with the urns of our other beloved pets.
