John Wesley Acree (JW) passed away from this life peacefully on January 12, 2020 at his home in Porter, OK, surrounded by his family. He was born April 21, 1941 in Clarksville, OK to Roy and Edith Hogan Acree. JW attended Porter School, where he met the love of his life, Bonnie Sue Garrison Acree.
JW worked for Braden Winch in Broken Arrow, OK for 40 years. After retiring in 2004, he and Bonnie enjoyed life, traveling and spending time with friends and family. JW also enjoyed hauling hay in his free time for several friends in the Porter area.
JW was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed through his teasing and orneriness by everyone. JW’s passion was attending his children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities. Whether it was ballgames, graduations, birthdays or FFA events, they could always count on him to be there.
JW is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Edith Hogan Acree, and his two sisters, Alma Lee Payne and Norma Jean Tackett.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Sue Garrison Acree; his son, Basil Kent Acree and wife, Beth, of Porter; his daughter, LaDonna Sue Ross and husband, Marty, of Webbers Falls; six grandchildren, Carmon Weiden of Bixby, Candace Acree of Porter, Kendra Rush and husband, Rusty, of Porter, Levi Webb and wife, Anna, of Porter; Katelyn Farris and husband, Brantley, of Tuscola, IL and Amber Johnson and husband, Sammy, of Porter; eight great-granddaughters, Lili and Birdie Weiden of Bixby, Rylie and Kelcie Rush of Porter, Kenley Ball of Porter and Aspen, Aliya and Adlee Johnson of Porter.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
