Martha E. Shelton, age 95 years, of Route 1, Iberia, Mo., passed away Thursday, November 2, 1972 at the Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo. Mrs. Shelton was born November 3, 1876 in Miller County near Iberia, Mo., the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Bradshaw) Meredith. She was married November 24, 1905 by Reverend J.D. Thompson, to Peter Shelton, who preceded her in death on May 11, 1955.

Mrs. Shelton had taught school in Miller and Camden Counties before her marriage. She had lived near Iberia all her life where she had been a member of the Curry Methodist Church since a young girl. Mrs. Shelton had attended Iberia Academy and Hickory Point Baptist Church.

Surviving are: one son, Spurgeon Shelton of Iberia, MO.; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5th at the Stevinson Chapel in Iberia with the Reverend Charles Cox officiating. Interment was in the Hickory Point Baptist Cemetery near Iberia under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Michael McDowell, Randy Shelton, Dillard G. Stamper, Dennis Stamper, Doyle Stamper and Larry Shelton.
