Charlie was selected Senior Citizen of the Year in 2009. He was so thrilled with that title that he wore his jacket, with his title embroidered for many years to come. He was so proud. Charlie began his working career when he was a teen back in the 60's. Worked at the commissary at Edwards Air Force Base for many years. More recently he drove cars for Honda and worked for Grace Resource in Lancaster, For the past 2 years, Charlie has been in assisted living in Lancaster.
He fought a hard fight to maintain his status in the community with the health issues he had to deal with.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Theresa Towner and less than 2 years ago by his wife Sherry. Charlie carved a wonderful life for himself even with his many health issues. He leaves behind his stepson, Curtis and his wife Marisol, brother John and his family of Modesto, Calif, sister, Pat Roper and her husband Ralph of Palm Desert, Calif., Marilyn Bonhomme and her husband George of Ark. and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his many friends throughout the valley including his car club friends who have been so wonderful and helpful through all the difficulties and preparations. We the family, are so grateful to all.
Services are scheduled for viewing on Tues., Jan. 30, from 4-8 pm, at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster. Church service Wed. Jan. 31, at Lutheran Church of the Master at 12 o'clock pm, and burial services at Eternal Valley on Thur. Feb. 1, at 10 am.
