Roy Ellis Wade, 89 of De Smet passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Center in Howard. His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3 at the American Lutheran Church of De Smet with Pastor Jonathan Dolan officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Osthus Funeral Home.
Roy was born January 24, 1930 to Clarence (Herb) and Mary (Myers) Wade. He grew up in the De Smet area and married Donna on August 31, 1952 at West Bethany Lutheran Church near Erwin.
He and his wife, Donna raised their family and worked together on their farm for 65 years. He served in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendelton, California during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church, De Smet American Legion Post 138, past director for the Kingsbury County REA Co-op, and board member for Manchester Township for many years.
Roy enjoyed staying busy restoring cars, tinkering in his shop, gardening, and working on projects for his children and grandchildren. He was proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and thought the world of them.
His is survived by his wife, Donna, children, Jean (Marvin) Bouska of Rapid City Duane of Walcott, Iowa, and Mary (Brad) Wienbar of Iroquois, four grandchildren, Mathew Wienbar of Beresford, Wesley (Kristen) Bouska of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Anne (Kevin) Schaefer of Colman, and Leah Wienbar of Madison, eight great-grandchildren, Raine and Ash Wienbar, Brielle, Barrett and Blaire Schaefer, Roy, Frank, and George Bouska, brother-in-law Merlyn Gilbertson and sisters-in-law Carole and Delda Gilbertson and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Blair.
