He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Holy Name Society.

He was born in Springfield, the son of Leonard and Rose Reisch Matheis.

Mr. Matheis was co-fonder and proprietor of the Matheis Hardware and Sheet Metal Co., 601 S. 11th for many years.

Services were at Sacred Heart Church.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
