BERNICE E. (CLEMENCE) GOOSETREY, 95, of 407 Prospect St., died Monday at the home of her daughter in Aurora, Colo.
She was the wife of the late Arthur Goosetrey.
Born in Johnston, June 20, 1906, a daughter of the late Stephen H. Clemence Jr. and Susan Alice (Flint) Clemence, she moved to Woonsocket in 1941.
Mrs. Goosetrey had been a bookkeeper at Scattergoods Furniture Store in Providence before her marriage, and Taft-Pierce Manufacturing Co. in the 1960s and '70s.
She was a communicant of St. James Episcopal Church, a charter member of its Senior Club, founded in the 1950s, and a former member of the Universalist Seniors Club.
She was a volunteer at St. James Thrift Shop, a junior choir mother, a corporator of the Nightingale Home Corporation, and a member of the Bucket Brigade.
She was a mother advisor for Woonsocket Assembly 13, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, where she as given the nickname Mother Goose, and she was a 51-year member of the Woonsocket Chapter 3, Order of the Eastern Star, where she held several offices.
She was a member of the Narragansett Gov. Cooke-Gaspee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had been a member of the Board of Directors of the Ballou Home and the Aid Association.
She is survived by two daughters and two grandsons.
She was the sister of the late Elsie F. Clemence Purnell* and Alice May Clemence.
