Obituary: Samuel "Sam" Martin Aman, 72, of Jane Lew, anchored his ship in God’s harbor on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Clarksburg on March 10, 1947, a son of the late Walter William Aman and Ruth Ann Hardman Aman. On May 6, 1972, Father Charles R. Carroll united Sam with the love of his life, Linda Faye Ramsey, at All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport. Together, Sam and Linda shared 47 wonderful years and she will miss him tremendously. Sam is survived by his wife, Linda Aman; three children: Samuel Lawrence Aman II and wife, Marissa, of Jane Lew, Walter Michael Aman and wife, Tamara, of Cross Lanes, and John Patrick Aman and wife, Amanda, also of Jane Lew; eight grandchildren: Alexander Paige "Lexie" Aman, Payton Augusta Aman, Jordyn Ann Jacklyn Aman, Sarah Elizabeth Aman, Thomas William Aman, Joseph Andrew Aman, Kelsolynn Isabelle Hall, and James Ryder Aman; one brother, Joseph W. Aman and wife, Karen, of State College, PA; several nieces and nephews; and his companion and military service dog, Jake. One infant brother, Thomas Aman, preceded Sam in death. Sam was raised in Bridgeport and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1965. He proceeded to enter the United States Navy in 1966 and served his country proudly as a Seabee in Vietnam. Once he returned home, he went to work for C & P Telephone (what later became Verizon) as a Cable Splicer where he retired after 31 years of employment. While working for Verizon, Sam met the woman he would spend his life with, Linda. After their marriage they moved from Harrison County and made their forever home in Jane Lew. Sam was a devout Christian and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a member of several other organizations including Communication Workers of America, Local 2011 Jane Lew Lions Club, VFW 5131 Jane Lew, Jane Lew Memorial American Legion Post 166, American Chestnut Foundation, and the NRA. Sam loved being outdoors whether he was at his farm in Loveberry or caring for his garden in Jane Lew. Weeding the garden with his boys was an activity he thoroughly enjoyed. Sam also liked to hunt and fish in the wild and wonderful West Virginia. Family and friends will gather for visitation at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020. A Rosary Service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 210 Center Ave. in Weston with Reverend James R. DeViese, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Weston. The United States Navy and Lewis County Honor Guard will accord full military honors.
