On May 28th at 9:05 a.m. Daniel Wayne Quinney departed. A True Texan, Dan was born on March 5th, 1930, in Lexington, Texas to Lafayette and Mollie Quinney.

In high school Dan was a member of the FFA and even competed in the Houston Livestock show in 1945. Soon after high school, Dan enlisted in the US Navy in 1949 at the age of 19 and served as a cook on the U.S.S Carp. Upon completion of his four year enlistment, Dan enrolled into the University of Texas at Austin where he earned his degree in Restaurant Management.

After successfully managing Wyatt's Cafeterias in Houston, Austin and San Antonio, Dan opened "Quinney's Home Cooking" on Houston Street in Downtown San Antonio next to the still standing Majestic Theater. Dan's outgoing personality and dedicated hard work led to 16 years of serving "Just Good Food" at Quinney's from 1967 to 1983. Following successful business ventures, Dan purchased a cattle ranch in Devine, Texas. Oil was discovered on this property and influenced Dan to study and invest in the stock market with notable success.

In 1998 Dan married Pita. The couple shared a love of travel that took them throughout the U.S. and around the world. Dan's favorite mode of travel was taking Cruise Ship Trips -- reminding him of his time in the Navy and his love for the open sea. Dan and Pita became faithful supporters of San Antonio Christian School following the enrollment of their grandson Logan and their beloved San Antonio Spurs whom Dan spent countless hours rooting for. Dan is known for his practical approach to life's challenges and generous nature. Dan leaves a legacy of admiration and appreciation from his family and many friends. porterloring.com
